Mount Ngungun, Sunshine Coast Queensland

One of the 13 Glass House Mountains located on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The mountains are remnants of volcanic activity which occurred 25-27 million years ago. 

Over millions of years the outer surrounding exteriors around the mountain have eroded, showing the volcanic rock of what is known as the Glass House Mountains.  Only on Beerwah and mount Ngungun can you see the vertical columns of the cooled volcanic larva as seen in the photograph of Mount Ngungun.
